The Saudi Cultural Mission in the United States announced that the number of Saudi male and female scholars specializing in space and its sciences has reached 267 students at various American universities, confirming their wide geographical spread and diverse academic paths among engineering, scientific, and operational disciplines.
The mission explained that the scholars’ programs cover a wide range of tracks, including aerospace engineering, space science and engineering, physics and astronomy, astrophysics, earth and space exploration, aerospace management and operations, aerospace security, space operations, alongside advanced professional tracks in professional aviation and aviation management.
Dr. Tahani Al-Baiz, the Saudi Cultural Attaché in the United States and Canada and supervisor of South American countries, said: “We are proud of our nation’s sons and daughters studying in space fields; they represent the Kingdom’s most important investment in human capital. Their academic and research excellence reflects the education system’s commitment to supporting future-oriented specializations aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals and the Saudi Space Commission’s aspirations to build a competitive sector based on knowledge and international partnerships.”
She added, “The wide presence of our students in prestigious American universities and their participation in laboratories, satellite projects, navigation, control, and remote sensing systems provides the Saudi labor market with qualified competencies and enhances the research and innovation system in space technologies and applications with economic and developmental impact.”
The mission indicated that the presence of scholars in these fields contributes to localizing space industries, improving the efficiency of the national research, development, and innovation system, expanding the scientific cooperation base between Saudi and American universities, encouraging students to engage in cooperative training programs, joint research, and publishing scientific papers in specialized journals.
The mission confirmed that celebrating the (World Space Week) is an opportunity to highlight Saudi success stories in this vital field and to affirm the integration of roles between the Ministry of Education and national space-related entities to support global competitiveness.
