Engineer Yasser Idris, Chairman of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and Vice President of the International Swimming Federation, expressed his pride in the great and historic event witnessed by the New Republic. He described the comprehensive document signed during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, related to ending the war in the Gaza Strip, as a new and precious victory for Egyptian diplomacy led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and a true embodiment of Egypt’s steadfast approach in supporting the Palestinian cause and promoting just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Engineer Yasser Idris stated that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit reaffirmed Egypt’s leadership, the “Mother of the World,” and its ability to unite Arab and international ranks against the machinery of war and destruction. He emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi led unprecedented diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to ensure a ceasefire, allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, preserve Palestinian territorial unity, and reject all forms of forced displacement.
Idris added that President El-Sisi reinforced these historic achievements through important bilateral talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, which addressed ways to consolidate the ceasefire and begin the reconstruction phase of Gaza. He confirmed that the statements made by both presidents during the meeting reflected consensus and a shared vision on the necessity of achieving lasting peace based on the two-state solution and stopping all forms of escalation in the region.
Yasser Idris affirmed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the architect of modern Egypt’s renaissance, repeatedly confirms that great Egypt has been and will remain the voice of reason and human conscience in the region. What was achieved at the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit is a purely Egyptian accomplishment that writes a new page in the history of global peace, thanks to the wise leadership of President El-Sisi, who proved to the world that Egypt does not seek a role but creates it, affirming its position as a fundamental and historic pillar of security and stability in the Middle East. May God protect Egypt, its leadership, and its people.
