As regional and international reactions continue to unfold regarding Trump’s plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, early signals from Hamas have emerged indicating how the movement might respond, albeit unofficially.

US envoy Steve Whitkov stated that Hamas’ initial response to Trump’s Gaza plan was “positive.”

In remarks to the American Fox News channel, Whitkov said that Qatari and Egyptian officials conveyed Hamas’ response that they “will study the plan in good faith and provide a response,” describing it as “a very positive initial reaction from a group that has not yet had time to fully review our proposal.”

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump presented a 20-point plan to end the nearly two-year-long war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, including a mechanism to develop the sector and launch a process culminating in the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The US president secured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s support for the peace plan, but questions remain about whether Hamas will accept the plan.

In a joint press conference following his meeting with Netanyahu, Trump said they were “very close” to reaching a peace agreement for the Palestinian sector. However, he warned Hamas that Israel would have full American support to take any necessary action if the group rejected the proposal.
