US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that the United States’ plan to end the war in Gaza includes guarantees for the Palestinians’ right to self-determination. However, he added, “They just have to prove it.”

Witkoff said in media remarks outside the White House: “We have to set them up for success… This is a complex deal to deliver from one government to another… All parties involved in this matter… want it to happen. The president believes it will happen, and he is determined. That really gives me hope. He is reaching the finish line.”

Regarding Hamas’s response, he said their initial reaction to the plan through Qatar and Egypt was very positive, although no final position has been presented yet. He added, “There are still details that need work, but I am optimistic about President Trump’s nature and his ability to push everyone toward a final agreement.”

He expressed optimism, noting “broad support from the Arab Gulf countries, Europeans, and direct communication with Britain and France.”

He pointed out that “Trump wants complete peace, not limited to Gaza but including the Middle East, and it may even reflect on Russia and Ukraine.”
