Under royal directives and direct follow-up by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, the government launched the National Council for Future Technology at the beginning of this year, chaired by the Prime Minister and including several concerned ministers and distinguished experts in the information and communications technology sector. The council aims to seize opportunities to build a strong and resilient economy that achieves prosperity, and to enhance an environment that stimulates and supports innovation and leadership through a strong and genuine partnership with the private sector, openness, and cooperation with international models in this field.

This week witnessed the council’s first global activity, through the patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for the launch of Future Forum 2025, held in Amman over two days, in cooperation with the World Economic Forum. The forum aims to unify efforts to enhance the use of technology in key sectors that serve citizens and promote economic growth, with the participation of representatives from major global technology companies and about 100 experts and specialists in the information technology sector.

The forum sessions focused on stimulating Jordanian talents to innovate new solutions, encouraging partnerships to drive the digital economy, and strengthening communication with Jordanians abroad who hold leadership positions in global technology companies to unify efforts to innovate new projects serving the national economy. Many workshops were held in direct partnership with the World Economic Forum to formulate practical and applicable projects and initiatives.

The forum also discussed key work themes: artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, digital health, smart living, sustainability and green technology, education development, and the future of work. The forum embodied the fruit of the Crown Prince’s efforts to elevate Jordan’s position in the technology sector regionally and globally, and to harness technology to serve citizens and improve service efficiency.

This will be achieved by focusing on practical applications and implementable projects, especially in the sectors of education, health, government services, data management, and skills development, and by enhancing cooperation between Jordan and the World Economic Forum and expanding existing partnerships.

The Jordanian telecommunications and information technology sector has achieved significant successes and leaps locally and globally. Jordanian talents and companies have spread across most countries of the world, establishing Jordan’s name in software, electronic games, advanced software, networks, and more. Jordan ranked 60th globally in the ICT Development Index for 2024 and improved its ranking in e-government among other achievements.

This sector enjoys direct royal patronage, and the Crown Prince continuously follows up on its successes, keen to support all initiatives that promote Jordanian youth, companies, and workers in this vital and important sector. Future Forum 2025 marked a renewed beginning to continue addressing the world from Amman, affirming Jordan’s progress towards more successes and achievements in all sectors day by day.
