Dr. Ayman Mohsen, Deputy of the Arab Affairs Committee in the Egyptian Parliament, stated that what US President Donald Trump proposed in his recent press conference at the White House, attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is an overt attempt to reinvent Israeli occupation under the guise of international guardianship.
He pointed out that the announced conditions, from the release of hostages within 72 hours, to the complete disarmament of Hamas, and the formation of a transitional government appointed from abroad, clearly reveal that Palestinians have been completely excluded from any role in their future, turning their cause into an administrative-security file serving the agendas of Washington and Tel Aviv.
Mohsen confirmed that the most dangerous aspect of the plan is the exclusion of the Palestinian National Authority and all factions from the scene, keeping Gaza under international guardianship funded by Arab and Gulf money, while Israel remains the security guarantor and the United States the sole political reference. This reflects a vision that strips Palestinians of their natural right to sovereignty and attempts to entrench the equation of “peace for investment” instead of “peace for ending the occupation.”
The parliament member added that such biased formulations, which exclude Palestinians and legitimize the siege and Israeli control, will not withstand historical and political realities. The Palestinian cause is not a humanitarian or security file managed externally, but a national liberation issue whose only solution is ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Dr. Ayman Mohsen stressed that any attempt to bypass or circumvent this solution is doomed to fail, as it contradicts all international legitimacy resolutions and the consensus of the international community. He confirmed that such proposals constitute a clear threat to Arab national security and open the door to regional chaos. He added, “I also believe that Arab peoples will not accept Gaza becoming an arena of international guardianship, nor will they accept reducing the Palestinian struggle to mere economic or security arrangements.”
Mohsen affirmed that the only path to lasting peace is recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent sovereign state. Any other temporary deals or security arrangements will only lead to more tension and violence, as peoples cannot relinquish their right to freedom and dignity no matter how much major powers try to impose their guardianship.
