The Israeli government has just announced its approval of the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement for the Gaza Strip, with the ceasefire in Gaza now coming into effect, according to Cairo News.

Israeli media reported that within 24 hours, the army’s withdrawal from Gaza will be complete and the release of detainees will begin.

According to the French news agency, the Israeli government agreed to end the war in Gaza and release all detainees, adding that 200 of their soldiers will be part of a joint task force to monitor the Gaza truce.

A US official confirmed that no American forces will be sent to Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Minister of Justice said the Palestinian government has prepared a “next day” plan to assume authority in Gaza, noting that reconstruction matters are not under the Palestinian Authority’s responsibility and are being discussed in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The Palestinian Minister of Justice praised the roles of Egypt and Qatar in the efforts to reach the Gaza agreement, stating that they intend to name the largest square in Gaza after Egypt once the reconstruction is complete.
