Justice Minister Adel Nassar stated in a declaration that any talk about exerting pressure, especially by the Cabinet on the State Council, is completely rejected and will not happen under any circumstances. He confirmed that no such request for pressure on the judiciary was made during the Cabinet meetings. He also emphasized respect for the judiciary’s independence and that he will not remain silent about any attempt to pressure the judiciary, particularly the State Council, whether directly or indirectly. He affirmed that the days of interference in the judiciary’s work are gone for good. This statement came in response to remarks attributed to Finance Minister Yassine Jaber in the August 25 issue of An-Nahar newspaper, where Jaber called on the Cabinet to pressure the State Council to expedite issuing its decision.
