The Minister of Industry, Yahia Bashir, affirmed that mechanical industries represent a central pillar of the national economy and contribute to increasing the GDP, emphasizing the need to develop performance and enhance production capacities to keep pace with the latest technologies.

During the third meeting he held with the executives of public conglomerates, this time dedicated to AGM Mechanical Industries Group, in the presence of the CEO of the group, general managers of branches, and central ministry officials.

The minister listened to a detailed presentation about the group’s status, projects, and various obstacles facing its activities, stressing the importance of continuous coordination with ministry departments to ensure rapid intervention and avoid obstacles, expressing appreciation for the efforts made.

In the field of agricultural equipment, he emphasized the importance of diversifying products to meet farmers’ needs and accelerating the manufacture of high-power tractors, considering them a key tool to support the agricultural sector and enhance food security. He also called for developing partnerships with branches specialized in fuel equipment manufacturing in coordination with the relevant sector.

Regarding shipbuilding, the minister called for accelerating its development and establishing regulatory frameworks to ensure that locally produced ships comply with international standards, allowing them to navigate territorial and international waters.

Bashir stressed the need to speed up digital transformation and implement projects included in the work program, in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aimed at modernizing management methods and achieving transparency, with these steps to be completed before the end of the year.

The minister concluded the meeting by confirming his personal follow-up on the implementation of these directives, calling on the group’s executives to double their efforts so that mechanical industries become a real engine for the desired industrial renaissance.

The Algerian Mechanical Industries Group (AGM Holding) is one of the most prominent national industrial hubs, established in 2015 and encompassing 28 branches operating in various fields including industrial equipment, agricultural and fishing equipment, public works equipment and handling means, alongside units specialized in industrial handling. The group employs about 6,700 workers, with its turnover exceeding 26 billion dinars in 2022 and reaching 40 billion dinars in 2023.

Its portfolio includes leading companies such as ENMTP, POVAL, and PMO, in addition to joint ventures with foreign partners from Germany, Spain, Finland, and Portugal.

The group focuses on increasing local industrial integration rates, developing governance, digitizing branch management, and launching projects to enhance after-sales services and locally provide agricultural equipment.
