Dr. Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Iraqi Foreign Minister, stated that Egypt’s role was pivotal and important in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza since the outbreak of the war and in proposing solutions. The Egyptian side proposed solutions to this complex problem at various stages.
Hussein added in an interview with journalist Amal Al-Hanawi on Al-Cairo News Channel: “With the efforts of everyone, including the Egyptian and American sides and many countries, we have reached this stage which we hope will be a phase of peace and security for the Palestinian people.”
Dr. Fuad Hussein continued that Egypt’s role was pivotal both in reaching this result and in holding the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit.
Regarding ways to convince the American side to establish a Palestinian state, he said: “Convincing the American side is not easy. Many countries have spoken about the two-state solution, and two conferences were held on the two-state solution, but the American side objected to this matter.”
He mentioned that convincing the American side requires initiatives and continuous communication, clarifying: “When we talk about the American side, we do not mean only the administration, but also think tanks, the media, and Congress.”
