Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan today discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov ways to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that the two ministers talked during a phone call about the meeting hosted by the US state of Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. Fidan expressed hope that the process initiated in Alaska would contribute to reaching a lasting peace involving Ukraine, affirming Turkey’s readiness to provide all forms of support to achieve this goal. Yesterday, the US President held a meeting with his Russian counterpart in Alaska under the title ‘Seeking Peace’ to discuss a possible ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine and bilateral relations. Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will travel to Washington next Monday to meet Trump to discuss issues related to ending the war with Russia.
