Kareem Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, affirmed that the ministry has a clear vision to develop and maximize the benefits of the Petroleum Pipelines Company, considered one of Egypt’s historic strongholds in the petroleum industry, responsible for managing and operating the networks for transporting and distributing petroleum supplies and products across Egypt, according to the ministry’s statement today.

During the company’s general assembly attended by Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, the minister highlighted the company’s important role in enhancing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for energy trade and exchange, given its capabilities to transport crude oil from the Red Sea area to the Mediterranean and store it.

Badawy also praised the efforts of the Petroleum Pipelines Company’s employees at all sites in implementing projects to expand the network lines to secure the flow and pumping of fuel supplies to citizens and various consumption sectors.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to occupational safety and health regulations and taking all necessary preventive measures to protect workers at all company sites, stressing that protecting the petroleum pipeline network is a top priority to ensure public safety and prevent any risks arising from encroachments or random digging within the pipeline corridors.

Engineer Haggag Rabie, Chairman of the Petroleum Pipelines Company, reviewed the most important implemented projects, including the completion of the SCADA system for automated monitoring, control, and early detection of any leaks in the lines; this supports protecting the pipelines from encroachments and thefts. He also discussed a package of projects implemented to replace, renovate, and improve the efficiency of petroleum product transportation lines nationwide, with the main goal of securing the fuel supplies needed for power plants, the primary consumers. The cost of these projects reached about 3.3 billion Egyptian pounds.

Rabie also explained the status of ongoing projects contributing to maximizing Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub, including the crude oil and petroleum products storage station project in El Sokhna and the petroleum products transportation line to the Al Hamra Petroleum Port in Alamein from the Midor Refinery in Alexandria.
