The National Council for Persons with Disabilities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and under the patronage of the Governor of Sohag, organized a training workshop to raise awareness among persons with disabilities about the new Labor Law No. 14 of 2025, held at the Grand Conference Hall of the Sohag Governorate headquarters.

The event was attended by Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Serag, Governor of Sohag, and a large number of persons with disabilities, the primary beneficiaries of the workshop.

This workshop is part of a series of awareness workshops implemented by the council under the economic empowerment axis for persons with disabilities, within the targeted governorates, under the umbrella of the council’s initiative “My Family is My Strength” sponsored by Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, wife of the President of the Republic.

The event is held in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and activates the joint cooperation protocol between the council and the ministry, as part of the “Eedina” project aimed at supporting the rights of persons with disabilities in employment and integration into the labor market.

The workshop reviewed the most important rights guaranteed to persons with disabilities by the new labor law and mechanisms to benefit from them, in addition to responding to attendees’ inquiries and clarifying ways to integrate safely and fairly into the labor market.

On the sidelines of the event, 25 employment contracts were handed over to persons with disabilities in various sectors to ensure a decent life and equal opportunities. Additionally, 10 private sector institutions that cooperated in employing persons with disabilities were honored in recognition of their social role and to encourage other institutions to join this path.

Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, affirmed the council’s keenness to expand the holding of training and awareness workshops in all governorates to spread legal culture and inform persons with disabilities of their rights, especially regarding job opportunities and employment.

She said, “We believe that knowledge is the first step towards empowerment, and raising awareness of rights opens the way for real integration into society and the labor market.”

For his part, Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Serag, Governor of Sohag, expressed his pride in cooperating with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities in organizing this event, confirming that the governorate pays great attention to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
