According to media reports citing U.S. officials, the United States will deploy 200 American troops to the Middle East to “monitor” compliance with the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
A report by Agence France-Presse stated: “A U.S. military group of 200 personnel will be deployed in the Middle East to ‘monitor’ compliance with the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.”
The report, citing U.S. Admiral Brad Cooper, noted that the role of the American military personnel will be “monitoring, surveillance, and ensuring no violations occur.”
The report also indicated that the group will include military personnel from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and possibly the United Arab Emirates.
The plan, whose details were announced, involves forming a multinational security force including the United States, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, alongside international observers, to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
This force will be tasked with supervising the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Strip, ensuring no resumption of hostilities, monitoring the redeployment of Palestinian forces in designated areas, facilitating humanitarian aid delivery, and rebuilding infrastructure damaged by the war.
The plan also aims to ensure a stable environment in preparation for launching a new political process under U.S. and international sponsorship, leading to a comprehensive resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The security force is scheduled to begin its work after the ceasefire is firmly established, with units stationed at specific points inside the Strip, working in coordination with the United Nations and the Palestinian Authority to ensure security and stability.
