The Washington Post confirmed that Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip continues to deepen Israel’s isolation on the international stage, even among its closest allies.

The newspaper noted in an article that the United States, Israel’s closest ally, is beginning to lose patience with the policies of its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

It pointed out that Netanyahu’s speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly witnessed a mass walkout of diplomats from the hall, and his criticisms of Western countries that recognized the State of Palestine received no response.

It added that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) may exclude Israeli teams and national squads from competitions, while some European countries are seeking to prevent Israel from participating in the Eurovision 2026 contest.

The newspaper confirmed that US President Donald Trump has begun to show impatience with Netanyahu, noting that their upcoming meeting on September 29 at the White House aims to persuade Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

In this context, Israeli Channel 13 reported that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned Prime Minister Netanyahu against the military attack on Gaza, stating that the operation lacks a political end and exposes hostages and soldiers to danger.

Netanyahu met on Sunday evening in New York with US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to bridge differences between Israel and Washington regarding the Gaza plan.

Israel’s public broadcasting authority “Kan 11” quoted a source in Netanyahu’s accompanying delegation saying there are “significant gaps with the Trump administration regarding the plan to end the war and release hostages, and changes must be made before tomorrow’s (Monday) meeting at the White House.”

Meanwhile, the newspaper Haaretz quoted a close associate of Netanyahu saying that “the issue of Netanyahu’s rejection of the Palestinian Authority’s intervention in Gaza will be raised during his meeting with Trump.”
