The office of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung announced a proposal to hold a meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this year, should Trump decide to visit South Korea to attend a regional forum. The spokesperson for the South Korean presidency described the meeting between Lee and Trump as “pleasant,” during which they exchanged compliments and discussed assassination attempts against them. Trump expressed his desire to meet Kim this year and showed openness to continuing trade talks with South Korea. Separately, Korean Air announced a massive deal to purchase over 100 Boeing aircraft, valued at approximately $50 billion, including passenger planes, cargo aircraft, and spare engines, marking the largest deal in South Korea’s aviation history.
