Dr. Mohamed Omar Hashem, son of the late scholar Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, affirmed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s decision to appoint him as a member of the Senate is a mandate and responsibility before being an honor.

He added in exclusive statements to “Al-Shorouk”: “My work will be a continuation of my late father’s path in serving the nation, science, and advocacy, and I will strive to live up to this precious trust from the political leadership.”

He continued: “My vision for the position is based on serious work to serve the people and support what achieves the interests of the state and society. I will focus on issues related to youth, education, and moderate advocacy. I aim to be a voice that honestly and responsibly expresses the people’s needs.”

Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Omar Ibrahim Hashem earned his PhD in Social Work and Community Development, specializing in Social Planning, in 2015, after obtaining his master’s degree in the same field in 2007 with excellent grades, and a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Education in 2001 from Al-Azhar University with very good general grade and honors in Islamic studies.

Dr. Mohamed Hashem began his academic career in 2002 as a teaching assistant in the Department of Social Work and Community Development, then worked as a research assistant in 2008, progressing through academic ranks until he became a researcher (lecturer) in 2015, and then an assistant research professor in 2024.

He also held the position of researcher at the International Islamic Center for Population Studies and Research at Al-Azhar University, worked as an advisor to the Social Solidarity Committee in the People’s Assembly, and has over 22 years of academic experience in social planning and community development.
