Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel is working on a new ceasefire plan in cooperation with the White House, but the details are still being arranged.
This comes ahead of his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday.
Netanyahu has faced intense international pressure to end the war, especially amid the ongoing assault on Gaza City.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Sunday that the Israeli bombardment has resulted in 665 deaths and 168,162 injuries since October 7, 2023, according to a press statement.
Trump is expected to present a new proposal to end the war during a White House meeting on Monday.
Netanyahu told the Fox News program “The Sunday Briefing”: “We are working on it. It is not finished yet, but we are working with President Trump’s team, actually as we speak now, and I hope we can make it succeed.”
Arab officials familiar with the plan, speaking on condition of anonymity because the proposal has not been officially announced, said the 21-point proposal calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all detainees held by Hamas within 48 hours, and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
