Samir Geagea, head of the Lebanese Forces party, strongly rejected the speech of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem, warning that it constitutes a direct threat to the Lebanese government, the parliamentary majority that granted confidence to this government, and all constitutional institutions in Lebanon, foremost among them the presidency and the government. Geagea affirmed that free Lebanese citizens, forming the majority, stand behind constitutional institutions during this sensitive foundational phase. Meanwhile, Qassem asserted that the resistance will not surrender its weapons, criticized the Lebanese government’s decision to disarm Hezbollah, and held the government fully responsible for any internal strife or explosion. These statements come amid diplomatic visits by Iranian and American envoys to Lebanon to discuss the security and political situation following the government’s decision.
