Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday that “Moscow does not need a war with anyone, including Europe,” pointing out that “Russia has always come to Europe as a liberator, not as an invader,” warning that if its leaders make the mistake of launching such a war, it could lead to a serious escalation involving weapons of mass destruction.
He emphasized on his Telegram account that “European countries cannot afford a war with Russia,” noting that “European leaders lack strategic thinking.”
Medvedev added that “a war with Europe contradicts Russia’s interests and should not happen.”
The Russian Security Council deputy chairman pointed out that “European countries are weak and divided and simply cannot afford a war with Russia… Europe will not be able to start a war with Russia alone.”
He also confirmed that European leaders “lack the skills necessary to make successful military decisions.”
This comes as the Kremlin warned that “supplying Ukraine with American Tomahawk missiles will not change the situation on the battlefield.”
US Vice President J.D. Vance announced on Sunday that his administration is considering supplying NATO countries with Tomahawk cruise missiles to then transfer them to Kyiv. He also noted that the final decision rests with US President Donald Trump.
A few days ago, Medvedev warned in response to statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that if Russia unleashes its arsenal of weapons, hiding in bomb shelters will be futile.
Medvedev said in a post on his X platform account: “The drug addict in Kyiv said the Kremlin should know the location of the shelter so they can hide when American long-range weapons are used,” according to the Russian news agency TASS.
Medvedev added, “What this fool must understand is that Russia has weapons no shelter can protect against, and Americans should remember that.”
