The ruling Party of Action and Solidarity in Moldova won the parliamentary elections, affirming the popular mandate for the path to European Union membership and overcoming pressures from Russian interference.

However, despite the victory, the government faces harsh domestic challenges, from poverty and energy crises linked to Russian gas, to the dilemma of the separatist Transnistria region where Russian troops are stationed, leaving the country with a difficult test between protecting the European path and addressing citizens’ daily concerns.
