The “Digital Bridge” is one of the most prominent innovations of the “Media Oasis,” launched alongside the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25) held in Riyadh. It offers visitors an interactive visual experience designed to simulate the journey of digital transformation in Saudi Arabia.
The bridge provides visitors with a comprehensive technological experience that embodies the civilizational and technological development through the ages, linking human transformations with digital ones in an innovative way that reflects the future digital vision of the Kingdom.
The bridge takes visitors on a tour through a corridor equipped with interactive screens that trace the history of communications in the Kingdom since 1925, when the founding King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God bless his soul – harnessed communications to connect the nation. It covers the establishment of the first Directorate of Telegraph, Post, and Telephone in 1926, the wireless fortress in Mecca in 1929, and the wireless communications station in Riyadh in 1938. The bridge also documents the experimental communication conducted by King Saud bin Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – in 1957 during the inauguration of the first wireless telephone station in Riyadh, alongside King Fahd bin Abdulaziz’s – may God have mercy on him – inauguration of the satellite station in Al-Baha in 1987, leading up to the major transformations witnessed in the telecommunications sector from 1997 to 2001.
The bridge also showcases the Kingdom’s recent digital leaps, achieving second place globally in key technical indicators in 2024 and first place worldwide in the ICT Development Index issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2025. It highlights the Kingdom’s international presence since joining the ITU in 1949, up to hosting the Global Symposium for Regulators this year, along with footage documenting the communication of Saudi leaders with the world, from the era of the founding king to the current Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince – may God protect them.
The bridge narrates the achievements of the most prominent government digital applications since their launch, which have transformed the lives of citizens and residents in the Kingdom. These include “Absher,” which has executed over 430 million transactions; “Tawakkalna,” which has exceeded 34 million users; “Qiwa,” which documented 11 million work contracts and has more than 12 million users. It also includes “Sehhaty,” which recorded over 53 million vital sign readings, 5 million instant consultations, and 23 million remote appointments, in addition to “Nusuk,” which provided services in multiple languages for pilgrims of the House of God, reaching more than 18 million users.
It is worth mentioning that the “Digital Bridge” is the result of a partnership between the Digital Government Authority, Saudi Digital, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), and the King Abdulaziz Foundation.
