Foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), representing 57 Muslim countries, called after their meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to examine the compatibility of Israel’s membership with the UN Charter due to violations of membership conditions. They urged coordinated efforts to suspend Israel’s membership and rejected the so-called “Greater Israel Vision” and Israel’s plans to impose full military occupation over the Gaza Strip.

The OIC foreign ministers condemned Israel’s announcement of its plan to impose full military control over Gaza and any plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people under any pretext. They strongly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements regarding the “Greater Israel Vision,” describing them as irresponsible and arrogant remarks that extend extremist rhetoric and incitement, violating international law, the UN Charter, and posing a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.

The ministers affirmed that these positions represent a serious and unacceptable escalation and an attempt to entrench illegal occupation and impose a fait accompli by force, threatening regional and international security and peace, and flagrantly violating international law including humanitarian law and relevant UN resolutions and advisory opinions issued by the International Court of Justice.

They called on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency session on the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people during the upcoming UN General Assembly meetings in September and requested member states’ delegations to coordinate with the State of Palestine on this matter.

The OIC ministers reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Islamic Ummah and affirmed support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination, the right of return for refugees, and the establishment of an independent sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.

They condemned the deliberate and systematic targeting of civilian infrastructure in Gaza, including the destruction of food supply chains, water facilities, and medical services by Israeli occupation forces, which has led to famine and a man-made humanitarian disaster.

The statement demanded an immediate cessation of military operations and a complete, unconditional lifting of the siege to allow unhindered access for urgent humanitarian aid, in accordance with international law and Islamic principles based on justice and human dignity.

The ministers held Israel fully responsible for crimes of genocide, unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, and famine in Gaza, demanding the opening of all crossings and immediate, unconditional entry of humanitarian aid.

They also supported efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach a prisoner exchange agreement as a vital humanitarian step to alleviate suffering, end the aggression, facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes, and the withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza, as well as the reconstruction conference scheduled in Cairo to begin implementing the Arab-Islamic relief and reconstruction plan.

The statement affirmed that Israel’s crimes as the occupying power—including aggression, genocide, ethnic cleansing, illegal siege of Gaza, use of starvation as a weapon of war, colonial settlement policies, settler terrorism and extremism, land confiscation, home demolitions, attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, and attempts to annex Palestinian land in the West Bank including East Jerusalem—constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide requiring accountability under international criminal law.

They condemned Israel’s obstinacy and refusal to respond to mediators’ attempts to reach a truce despite nearly two years since the aggression on Gaza, and its continued entrenchment of illegal occupation. The insistence on expanding criminal military operations and ignoring calls to cease the war, rejecting the latest mediator proposal despite Palestinian agreement, represents blatant disregard for international efforts.
