Today, the world’s eyes are on Egypt, specifically the city of peace, Sharm El-Sheikh, to witness the conclusion of one of the most brutal and harsh wars in human history, which has surpassed the limits of laws, charters, and international humanitarian treaties, reaching the level of wars of extermination, displacement, killing, starvation, and siege over two years.

The world is not only focused on Egypt but is present with its political, diplomatic, and economic weight in Sharm El-Sheikh, where 25 leaders gathered at the Sharm El-Sheikh summit, chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and former U.S. President Donald Trump, to sign an agreement to end the war in Gaza and start negotiations to set a new path for peace in the Middle East, aiming for the final solution of establishing an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. This presence is unprecedented compared to previous peace conferences such as Camp David, Madrid, and Oslo Accords.

The summit, held on Egyptian soil, confirms and acknowledges Egypt’s clear and steadfast role since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023. Egypt quickly called for the Cairo Peace Summit following developments in the Al-Aqsa Flood operation and the Israeli aggression on Gaza. The summit took place on Saturday, October 21, in Cairo, chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, attended by over 30 countries and the UN Secretary-General.

Egyptian diplomatic efforts continued to stop the bloodshed and extermination and to confront plans to forcibly displace the Palestinian people outside Gaza. Egypt bore enormous pressures and many temptations to agree to the displacement scenario into Egyptian territory, but the Egyptian stance was clear that displacement into Sinai is a red line threatening Egypt’s national security. At times, a firm diplomatic stance was evident in confronting threats to Egypt’s national security and Israeli aggression.

Everyone trusted Egypt’s honest, clear role and President El-Sisi’s statements. Egypt’s mediation with the brothers in Qatar and the American mediator was listened to by all. Palestinians, including children, youth, women, and elders, celebrated the ceasefire, raising Egyptian flags and pictures of President El-Sisi, chanting Egypt’s name, reflecting the truth and sincerity of Egypt’s position.

Egypt’s firm national and patriotic belief proved that no war ends with weapons alone, no victory or defeat was achieved in this mad war of extermination, starvation, and displacement. The region lost much, and Egypt bore significant economic, security, and social burdens amid ongoing regional tensions and neighboring countries’ security situations. Egypt also faced provocations, lies, rumors, and malicious attempts to incite public opinion and drag it into a senseless war.

However, Egypt’s voice of reason, wisdom, and emotional steadiness, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, was always the clear bet to end this war, stop the daily bloodshed, and prove the correctness of Egypt’s firm, clear, and strategic position. Egypt’s connection to the Palestinian cause is permanent and dictated by national security considerations, geography, history, blood ties, and nationalism with the Palestinian people. Therefore, Egypt’s stance on Palestine has never been subject to temporary interests or regional or international bargaining and has remained unaffected by changes in Egyptian regimes or policies.

Thus, the summit’s convening is a remarkable new victory, coinciding with the celebration of the October 1973 victory, achieved through Egypt’s long-standing diplomacy over more than two years to stop the brutal Israeli war on Gaza and restore Palestinian rights to establish an independent state within the June 1967 borders and prevent forced displacement of Palestinians outside their homeland.

The success culminated in Egypt hosting delegations from Israel, Hamas, and several Palestinian resistance factions to discuss field conditions and details of exchanging all Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners according to the initiative of former U.S. President Donald Trump, hoping to end the war and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people that lasted over two continuous years.

The summit’s attendance by a remarkable number of world leaders, including the U.S. President, French President, British Prime Minister, German Chancellor, Italian Prime Minister, Spanish Prime Minister, Turkish President, Jordanian King, Bahraini King, Pakistani Prime Minister, UN Secretary-General, and European Council President, indicates a political international will to end this war forever and set a path for comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East. It also recognizes and appreciates Egypt’s role and constant pursuit of peace, not war, and security and stability for the region’s peoples, not chaos, killing, destruction, and displacement.

Today, the world listens to Egypt’s voice, coming from the depths of history on the banks of the Nile for thousands of years, witnessing the making of glory, civilization, and peace. Enter Egypt in peace and safety.
