Damascus “Al-Mujtahid” Hospital, in cooperation with the French organization Doctors Without Borders, today honored nineteen resident doctors who excelled in the Syrian Board, in recognition of their scientific and professional efforts in providing medical services.

Dr. Wael Daghmash, Director of Damascus Health, told SANA that this honor reflects the scientific and humanitarian status of health institutions in Syria, emphasizing that national hospitals are not only treatment centers but also advanced scientific institutions for graduating qualified medical staff.

Dr. Mohammad Halaboni, Director of Damascus Hospital, explained that the hospital is a national landmark supporting the health sector with qualified competencies, noting that honoring the outstanding doctors in the board is the culmination of years of work and study, preparing a generation capable of bearing medical responsibility to serve the nation and its citizens.

Halaboni indicated that nineteen resident doctors were honored: six at the national level, three at the Ministry of Health hospitals, and ten from Damascus Hospital.

Dr. Osama Al-Bunni, specialist in oral, facial, and jaw surgery, considered the honor a great moral gesture appreciating the efforts of resident doctors, confirming that intensive practical training under the supervision of a select group of doctors helped them achieve distinguished results despite difficult circumstances.

Al-Bunni added that this initiative sends a message of thanks to doctors and motivates them to continue excelling, raising Syria’s name high in the medical field.

The honor comes within the framework of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to support young medical talents and develop the health sector to provide the best services to citizens.
