He wrote: “Regardless of your decisions, my main advice is to listen to all arguments. We may be happy to sell weapons to NATO countries, but never forget that we ourselves are NATO. If the alliance supplies Ukraine with these weapons, aren’t we fighting a proxy war against Russia? Aren’t we now directly involved?”
Flynn also pointed out that the United States should work harder to find peaceful ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier today, U.S. President’s special representative Keith Kellogg stated in an interview with Fox News that Trump allowed Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes deep into Russian territory.
Last weekend, The Wall Street Journal quoted sources in the White House and Kyiv saying that Trump told Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting in New York that he was open to lifting restrictions on the use of U.S. long-range weapons to strike Russian territory, but he did not make any direct commitments to review current restrictions.
Zelensky requested Tomahawk missiles, while the U.S. administration is considering this possibility, in addition to an alternative of providing additional ATACMS missiles. Vice President J.D. Vance commented on the situation by deferring the decision-making responsibility to the head of state.
Russia views supplying Kyiv’s regime with weapons as an obstacle to settlement and directly involving NATO countries in the conflict. Moscow has repeatedly affirmed that Western military aid bodes ill for Ukraine and only prolongs the conflict.
