Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed on Friday that Russia would welcome the decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump.

Ushakov told the Russian news agency TASS, “I think we will support the decision to award Trump the Nobel Peace Prize if asked to do so.”

At the same time, Ushakov expressed his astonishment at what he called the “stupidity” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky when he said he “might push for Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize if the United States supplied Kyiv with Tomahawk missiles.”

The Russian official said, “This means awarding the Nobel Peace Prize in exchange for sending weapons. The idea itself is ridiculous; the way people think reveals their character.”
