Danish coach Jes Thorup, the new head coach of Al Ahly club, was present at Cairo International Stadium to watch the match between Egypt and Guinea-Bissau, currently taking place as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This match is part of the tenth and final round of the African qualifiers for the World Cup, which Egypt has officially secured qualification for.
Egypt had secured its qualification for the 2026 World Cup as the leader of Group A, making today’s match a formality, as it comes after confirming qualification and is considered a celebration of the achievement, with great interaction from the fans and celebrations of the Pharaohs’ accomplishment.
Egypt qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time in its history after defeating Djibouti 3-0 in their match last Wednesday in Morocco. Egypt topped Group A with 23 points from 9 matches, making today’s match a formality before the final game against Guinea-Bissau.
