Mohamed Wahbi, the national coach of Morocco’s under-20 team, expressed great happiness working with the “Atlas Lions” after their well-deserved qualification to the semi-finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, following an exciting 3-1 victory over the United States on Sunday evening in the quarter-finals.

Wahbi said in post-match comments: “We have full confidence in our capabilities. We have players with high offensive skills who can disrupt any defense, alongside a strong and organized backline. What distinguishes our group is the balance between defense and attack; all players fulfill their duties, and that makes the difference.”

He added: “What makes me prouder is the fighting spirit shown by the players. They played for this achievement, and now they are writing their own story in the history of Moroccan football. This generation has a clear personality and ambition and deserves to be celebrated.”

Wahbi continued: “In the first half, we faced difficulties in defensive organization, but we improved a lot in the second half and became a more controlled team. The challenge was real, and we learned many lessons from it.”

He concluded: “Working with these young players is a real pleasure. They are making history in their own way, and simply, they deserve it. This generation gives me hope and motivates me to give my best every day.”

This achievement is the second in the history of Moroccan football after the 2005 edition in the Netherlands, when the “Atlas Lions” reached the semi-finals for the first time.

The Moroccan team will face the winner of the Norway vs. France match next Wednesday at 9 PM Moroccan time.
