Dr. Mahmoud Mosel, Chairman of the Culture, Media, Tourism, and Antiquities Committee in the Egyptian Senate, affirmed that recent statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump on the “Truth Social” platform regarding a surprise related to the Palestinian state reflect a comprehensive plan aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza and opening the path for broader stability in the region.

In an interview on Al-Hadath TV, Mosel explained that these statements reveal the beginning of a serious discussion within the United States about recognizing the Palestinian state, emphasizing that Trump’s promoted plan carries great hope for establishing stability in the Middle East.

The Senate committee chairman pointed out that the plan is not just scattered ideas but a well-studied initiative with clear details, noting that one of its main points is to remove Hamas from managing the Gaza Strip in the upcoming phase.

He added that this proposal came as a result of prolonged negotiations with several Arab countries, giving it greater political weight.

Mosel confirmed that U.S. recognition of the Palestinian state will only occur within the framework of a comprehensive peace process between Palestinians and Israelis, warning that the continuation of the war in Gaza could lead to serious repercussions threatening the security and stability of the entire region.

In this context, Mosel held Israel responsible for the continuation of the conflict, considering its stubborn and arrogant policies towards regional countries as complicating the situation and hindering chances for calm.

Mosel noted that Trump has the ability to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept the plan, despite Netanyahu’s continuous attempts to impose prohibitive conditions that obstruct negotiations. He said: “Netanyahu is the main driver of the war, but he will face increasing international pressure in the coming period.”

The Senate committee chairman added that the success of this plan could open the door for broader peace treaties in the Middle East, enhancing regional stability prospects, stressing that the war in Gaza has severely damaged international law and the credibility of international institutions, and that ending this humanitarian tragedy requires decisive steps from Washington.

Mosel pointed out that Egypt’s role will remain pivotal in supporting efforts to end the crisis, affirming that the plan, despite some ambiguity in certain details of Gaza’s management, represents a historic opportunity to achieve lasting and comprehensive peace.

He concluded by emphasizing that the biggest bet remains on Trump’s ability to push Netanyahu to accept the plan, considering that the success of the initiative will not only resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict but also pave the way for comprehensive stability eagerly awaited by the international community with caution and hope.
