As part of the major boom witnessed by Egyptian ports, Dekheila Port continues to implement one of its largest strategic projects, the construction of the multi-purpose “Tahia Misr 2” terminal at Dock 100, which represents a strong addition to the port’s status as a key hub for trade and logistics in the Mediterranean region.
World-Class Container Terminal with Advanced Standards
The project includes the construction of a giant container terminal with the latest global technological systems, on a dock measuring 1,200 meters in length out of the total 1,680 meters of Dock 100, with a depth reaching 18 meters and a total area of approximately 840,000 square meters. The terminal’s capacity reaches about 1.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually, with the majority allocated for transit container traffic, making Dekheila Port one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean for this type of international trade.
Completion of Infrastructure and Start of Superstructure Works
The infrastructure works of the project have already been completed, while the superstructure works have started, accelerating the pace of implementation according to the latest global standards.
Job Opportunities and Integrated Logistic Services
The project is expected to provide more than 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, in addition to contributing to enhancing Egypt’s role as a regional center for maritime transport and logistics services, especially with the exceptional capacity of the new dock to receive giant ships up to 400 meters in length and loads of up to 24,000 containers.
Global Partnership within the Red Sea-Mediterranean Link Project
The project comes within the implementation of the integrated logistics axis between Sokhna and Alexandria, linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, where a contract for the construction of the superstructure, management, operation, exploitation, maintenance, and handover of the container terminal at Dock 100 was previously signed between the Alexandria Port Authority and the global alliance Hutchison – MSC, reflecting the confidence of major global entities in the Egyptian market.
A New Step Towards Regional Leadership
With this giant project, Dekheila Port takes a wide step towards transforming into a major center for international trade and transit movement in the region, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian ports regionally and globally, in line with the state’s directions to make Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
