The Ministry of Youth and Sports is working to utilize the available spaces in Aswan youth centers by establishing several commercial shops and event halls, aiming to generate economic returns that benefit the members and visitors of these centers and improve the level of services provided. This is a serious step towards optimal asset utilization and increasing revenues as part of efforts to enhance the self-resources of Aswan youth centers.
The ministry has devised a plan to maximize investment returns within youth and sports bodies by exploiting vacant lands and offering them under usufruct rights to provide financial resources that support activities and services for the local community. This includes benefiting from youth centers’ facilities and maximizing their revenues through rental income from playgrounds, swimming pools, event halls, cafeterias, and establishing shops around youth centers. The income generated is used to develop self-resources for youth centers, fund activities, games, service improvements, and provide resources for regular maintenance and development to ensure the continuity of youth services.
Protocols have also been signed with youth centers and clubs in Aswan governorate to install ATM machines and explore investment opportunities that maximize revenues for youth and sports bodies, achieving annual financial benefits that contribute to infrastructure development and various activities.
For example, the Sheikh Haroun Youth Center in Aswan city includes a swimming pool site planned as an investment project under usufruct rights, expected to increase the center’s revenues and support its diverse activities for youth.
Similarly, the Mubarak Youth Center in Azab Kima, Aswan, has a designated site for commercial shops under usufruct rights, contributing to enhancing the centers’ self-resources.
The Jaafra Youth Center in Daraw includes unused vacant lands planned to be offered for investment under usufruct rights to create self-income sources that fund various activities.
The Jaafra Center also has a legal football field built by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a five-a-side field, and an administrative building subject to demolition. The center is part of the second phase of the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” which includes renovating the five-a-side field, completing the fence, and building an administrative building for services and activities.
The Directorate of Youth and Sports in Aswan has succeeded in significantly increasing monthly revenues for several youth centers, such as the Edfu city center, reaching about 248,600 Egyptian pounds monthly through implementing several investment projects under usufruct rights.
Investment operations included offering a 500-square-meter area inside Edfu Youth Center to establish a cafeteria rented for 57,000 Egyptian pounds monthly, and a 200-square-meter land for commercial shops rented for 48,600 Egyptian pounds monthly.
Additionally, the renovation and leasing of the event hall witnessed strong competition, reaching a rental value of 162,500 Egyptian pounds monthly. A previous project involved leasing land for a swimming pool for 16,000 Egyptian pounds monthly.
Currently, the Directorate is preparing to offer two new land plots inside Edfu Youth Center: one for a children’s amusement park and another 1,600 square meters suitable for major projects such as commercial complexes, banks, hotels, administrative offices, and hospitals, which will enhance service efficiency and generate additional financial resources.
In other youth centers across Aswan, many investment opportunities have been implemented to increase financial budgets for youth centers to fund activities and reduce the financial burdens on the state budget, contributing to activating economic management and optimal investment of their capabilities, facilities, and infrastructure, while expanding banking services for citizens.
Aswan governorate has also benefited from contracts after selecting a national bank to open branches at the Kalabsha Youth Center in Nasr Al-Nuba and the Radisiya Youth Center in Edfu, significantly boosting financial revenues and reducing reliance on the state budget. This aligns with the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to various youth and sports sectors.
Moreover, the Abu Simbel Youth Center in Nasr Al-Nuba signed a cooperation protocol with a national bank allowing the installation of an ATM machine with an annual return estimated at about 12,000 Egyptian pounds. Similarly, the Kom Ombo Youth Center, one of the largest in the governorate due to its large area and location on several streets in central Kom Ombo city, is preparing to lease space for investment projects, as the city is a major commercial hub in Aswan. The Directorate discussed legal, administrative, and financial procedures with the center’s board to obtain the best rental value for the project, which will be offered for lease soon.
This step aims to explore ways to maximize revenues of youth centers and diversify their self-income sources by establishing investment projects in youth and sports fields, achieving the goals of the state’s general policy and the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ policy to utilize vacant lands in youth centers for their benefit and increased financial resources.
