Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is unacceptable and that this massacre must end, noting that the Israeli occupation’s reaction has been excessive.
In his speech before the Italian Parliament regarding the situation in Gaza today, the Italian Foreign Minister condemned statements by some Israeli occupation government ministers and the aggressive behavior of settlers, stressing strong opposition to the establishment of new settlements in the West Bank as they contradict the two-state vision.
He indicated that Italy will continue working for peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state, affirming Italy’s strong support for the Palestinian people’s dream of statehood and rejecting the displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In a related context, the Italian Parliament approved support for US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza, with 182 votes in favor, 101 abstentions, and no opposing votes.
The Parliament also approved a resolution calling, alongside support for the American plan, for measures to recognize a Palestinian state, provided Hamas releases all detainees and renounces any political or military presence in Gaza and the West Bank.
