The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, welcomed the plan announced by US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza, considering any international effort aimed at stopping the war and ending the humanitarian disaster in Gaza worthy of praise, engagement, and contribution.

The GCC website quoted Al-Budaiwi as saying: “Ceasefire and the immediate and swift lifting of restrictions on aid delivery, preventing the displacement of the population in the Gaza Strip and protecting them, are priorities that should be at the core of any responsible international action,” stressing that the success of any initiative depends on serious implementation, ensuring civilian protection, and providing suitable conditions for stability.

In this context, Al-Budaiwi pointed out that the GCC views the proposed steps positively, which could contribute to paving the way for a real and just process that guarantees the established rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Secretary-General also affirmed the Council’s readiness, along with regional and international partners, to support any effort that contributes to ending the war in Gaza and formulating a solution that preserves all the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution, achieving security and stability in the region.

US President Donald Trump had announced the imminent conclusion of an agreement that would end the war in Gaza and help achieve comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
