Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed on Sunday his belief that negotiations between Washington and Kyiv to supply Ukraine with long-range “Tomahawk” missiles will not result in an agreement, noting that U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to arm Kyiv is reversible.
In an interview reported by the Russian agency Sputnik, Lukashenko said that calm is needed in this regard, and that Donald Trump has a specific tactic to deal with the most urgent issues first, sometimes adopting a more aggressive approach, then following a tactic of easing off and retreating; therefore, this matter should not be taken too seriously as if it will happen tomorrow.
He pointed out that the responsibility for resolving the situation in Ukraine largely lies with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, urging the Ukrainian president to urgently negotiate to find a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis, declaring that “only Slavic countries are capable of making Ukraine happy.”
The Belarusian president expressed his opinion that the situation in the Ukrainian conflict zone could lead to the disappearance of Ukraine as a state, adding that some of its western neighbors are already prepared to seize part of it.
