Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Sunday requested Foreign Minister Youssef Reji to urgently file a complaint to the United Nations Security Council regarding the Israeli aggression that targeted “civilian and commercial facilities” in southern Lebanon early last Saturday. Meanwhile, UNIFIL forces reported that one of their soldiers was injured by a bomb dropped by an Israeli drone near their position in the town of Kfarkela, marking a recurring type of incident.
The Lebanese government stated that Salam contacted the Foreign Minister and asked him to submit an urgent complaint to the Security Council concerning the recent Israeli aggression targeting civilian and commercial facilities in Al-Musaylih, constituting a blatant violation of Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire arrangements. Reji instructed Lebanon’s permanent representative to the UN in New York to file an urgent complaint to the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General regarding Israeli warplanes’ airstrikes on October 11, 2025, against a group of exhibitions featuring bulldozers and excavators on the Al-Musaylih-Zahrani road in Sidon district, resulting in civilian casualties and severe damage to targeted commercial establishments.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the repeated Israeli attacks, describing them as a new blatant breach of UN Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement, which also hinder the Lebanese army’s efforts to implement the plan to monopolize weapons in the hands of the Lebanese state.
Israeli aircraft continued to fly intensively over several Lebanese areas on Sunday, and Lebanese media reported that Israeli drones broadcast inciting messages over several southern regions, calling for the expulsion of Hezbollah fighters before reconstruction begins.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Sunday that one of its members was injured due to an Israeli drone dropping a bomb that exploded near their position in the south, marking the third such incident in just over a month.
UNIFIL works with the Lebanese army to consolidate a ceasefire reached last November aimed at ending a military confrontation that lasted more than a year between Israel and Hezbollah, including an open war that lasted two months.
UNIFIL stated in a Saturday morning release: “An Israeli drone dropped a bomb that exploded near a UNIFIL position in the town of Kfarkela, resulting in minor injuries to one peacekeeper who received first aid.”
UNIFIL described the Saturday incident as “another serious violation of Resolution 1701 and a worrying disregard for the safety of peacekeepers.”
Earlier this month, UNIFIL reported that Israeli drones dropped four bombs near its forces, while Israel emphasized that no deliberate fire targeted the force at that time. (Agencies)
