Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia has not received an invitation to join the international force tasked with ensuring security in the Gaza Strip, as outlined in the provisions of US President Donald Trump’s plan to stop the Gaza war.
Lavrov told journalists at the conclusion of the Valdai Forum session: “Russia has not received any invitation to join the international forces responsible for securing protection in the Gaza Strip.”
Lavrov added that “Moscow does not know the details of Trump’s ceasefire plan in Gaza and has only seen its provisions,” noting that Russia will announce its position on this plan for Gaza after learning the views of all regional countries.
It is noted that Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza includes, among many points, a comprehensive reconstruction of infrastructure and hospitals with international support, and Gaza being subject to a temporary transitional government through a “non-political Palestinian technocratic committee” responsible for managing public services and municipalities.
The committee is to be composed of qualified Palestinians and international experts, under the supervision of the “International Peace Council” chaired by Trump and other leaders, with an international stabilization force overseeing security and disarming factions.
