With the daily rise in traffic accident tolls on the roads, traffic safety experts have called on the government to launch a major national campaign under the slogan “Enough”, to coincide with the current social and school season and continue until next summer. They also urged the involvement of civil society and artists in this initiative to confront the ongoing loss of lives.
Dr. Amhad Kawash revealed that he had previously launched the idea in the form of an awareness infographic, a visual message directed at various segments of society. According to him, the initiative focused on strict adherence to traffic laws, including wearing seat belts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, and not driving under the influence of drugs or fatigue, along with highlighting behaviors that raise traffic awareness and promote road culture among Algerians.
The speaker emphasized that the real challenge lies in continuity, as traffic awareness should not be considered a temporary message only spread during tragedies, but rather a collective responsibility requiring comprehensive mobilization from official institutions, media, artists, and civil society actors.
He also explained that the road death toll in Algeria requires dealing with it as a national issue of utmost priority and urgency, noting that changing wrong behaviors on the road will only be achieved through continuous awareness campaigns accompanied by educational programs that reach citizens and encourage them to commit to responsible driving and road use.
The speaker called for intensifying promotional campaigns for this initiative through social media platforms so that the highest authorities respond and officially launch it in conjunction with the upcoming social season. He pointed out that building a solid traffic culture requires great effort and continuous campaigns, making the slogan “Enough” a collective cry to stop the bleeding of lives on the roads.
