Hamas leader Mohammed Nazzal said on Thursday evening that the movement will soon respond to US President Donald Trump’s plan regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza.

Nazzal emphasized Hamas’s seriousness in reaching understandings away from the pressure of time and threats.

He explained in press statements published by Hamas platforms that “Hamas began internal and external consultations with Palestinian factions, independent figures, and mediators the day after the plan was announced on September 30.”

He added that “the movement is seriously discussing the plan despite many reservations it has.”

Nazzal stressed that the final position will consider the supreme interests of the Palestinian people and the strategic constants of the Palestinian cause.

He confirmed that they reject dealing with the plan in an all-or-nothing manner, noting that Hamas acts in a way that serves the interests of the Palestinian people and takes all political considerations into account.

Nazzal pointed out that Hamas maintains continuous and sensitive communication with friendly parties from Arab and Islamic countries.

He explained that over the past 28 hours, specialists continued their communication with mediators and Arab and Islamic parties, confirming their seriousness in reaching understandings.

Nazzal affirmed that the seriousness in dealing with the plan does not come from time pressure but from the keenness to stop the collective massacre that the Palestinian people in Gaza have been subjected to for two years and to prevent its continuation into a third year.

He added: “We are serious not because of the sword of time hanging over us, but because time is blood, and we are keen to stop the collective massacre of the Palestinian people in Gaza which has lasted two years and we do not want it to enter its third year.”

On Monday, Trump announced a plan consisting of 20 points, including “the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza within 72 hours,” “a ceasefire,” and “disarming Hamas.”

The plan also calls for the formation of an international supervisory body headed by Trump, responsible for training a governing administration in Gaza without Hamas’s participation.

During a press conference with Trump at the White House on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his support for Trump’s plan, considering it achieves Israel’s war objectives. Meanwhile, Qatar announced on Tuesday that it and Egypt informed Hamas of Trump’s plan, and that Hamas “responded responsibly and promised to study it.”
