Yesterday, Ooredoo Tunisia organized the inaugural edition of the Ooredoo AI Summit, a prominent event that brought together the Minister of Communication Technologies, Sofiane Al Hamissi, Ooredoo Group CEO Aziz Al Othman Fakhro, Regional CEO for North Africa and Asia Ahmed Abdelaziz Al Naama, and Ooredoo Tunisia CEO Mansour Rashid Al Khater, alongside the group’s leadership team, numerous startups, entrepreneurs, media, decision-makers, and key players in Tunisia’s AI ecosystem.
At the summit’s opening, the Minister emphasized that artificial intelligence is more than just a technological advancement; it represents a strategic opportunity for Tunisia to strengthen its digital sovereignty, empower youth, and accelerate inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He also praised Ooredoo’s initiative as a key driver of collaboration between government institutions, local partners, and emerging talents.
In his speech, Mansour Rashid Al Khater, CEO of Ooredoo Tunisia, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to shaping Tunisia’s digital future, stating: “At Ooredoo, we believe AI is a powerful tool for inclusion, innovation, and progress. Our ambition is to place Tunisia at the heart of the global digital revolution by investing in AI-ready infrastructure, supporting startups and enterprises, and collaborating with global leaders like NVIDIA to build a strong and pioneering ecosystem for the future.”
The summit served as a leading platform for dialogue among industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts, highlighting how AI can enhance economic competitiveness, support responsible governance, and promote sustainability and social inclusion. It also showcased practical cases illustrating AI’s impact on business, public services, and daily life.
A key announcement was the collaboration between Ooredoo and NVIDIA, enabling access to high-performance graphics processors to support advanced AI solutions. This advanced platform will be available to government entities, startups, and enterprise clients, providing sovereign AI capabilities as a service (AI-as-a-Service) at a world-class level, accelerating innovation and the launch of new market services.
Ooredoo Tunisia has already begun integrating AI into its operations by using cases that offer more personalized customer experiences and innovative digital solutions. This will be the first application of Agentic AI in Tunisia.
This event marks the starting point of a broader roadmap, with Ooredoo committed to organizing dedicated days for various AI-interested sectors, an AI hackathon, training programs, and collaborative projects that will contribute to developing local talents and strengthening a vibrant AI ecosystem in the country.
The summit also featured rich panel discussions gathering leaders from various AI sectors. Karim Beguir, co-founder of InstaDeep, shared an inspiring success story demonstrating how Tunisian innovation can achieve global impact, while Ahmed Mostafa, AI adoption and partnership development lead at NVIDIA, focused on AI-as-a-Service’s role in enabling access to cutting-edge technologies and accelerating enterprise growth.
Participants in the discussions included: Merhizia Al Aouni, General Director of Communication Technologies; René Werner, Executive Director of Strategic Governance at Ooredoo Group; Nozha Boujemaa, Global VP – AI Innovation and Trust at Decathlon; Imed Zitouni, Engineering Director at Google; Yazid Slaouti, Vice Chairman at Lloyd Insurance; Najib Khan, CEO of Business at Ooredoo Group; and Mohamed Koubaa, CEO of UBCI Bank, who influenced the debate with their perspectives on governance, sustainability, business innovation, and the future of AI in Tunisia.
The summit concluded with a strong message of commitment and determination: Ooredoo will continue to lead AI adoption in Tunisia, support national digital transformation, and enhance the country’s position as a hub for technological innovation in the region.
