A small piece of paper with few words, written in a child’s handwriting reflecting deep sadness, was attached by the little girl to her father’s grave after he was betrayed and killed by his cousin, ending his life instantly without any fault.

The girl wrote on the notebook paper, which she insisted on attaching to her father’s grave, a message saying, “Dad, my heart.. my soul, you hear me right.. I love you dad, don’t be upset,” and she stuck her words with a small heart colored red, though it looked sad despite its color.

Mahmoud Kafafi was a young man in the prime of his youth, married with three children: the eldest, Mariam, 15 years old; the middle, Rahma, 10 years old; and the youngest, Ahmed, 6 years old. He worked in the trade of frozen meat and fish.

Mahmoud headed to his shop in the market area of Badrashin, seeking his livelihood as usual. While at his shop, he was suddenly attacked by his cousin with a sharp weapon, who stabbed him fatally and fled after stealing a sum of money.

The victim’s father, overwhelmed by grief, said the accused is fully mentally competent and had a friendship with his son until he betrayed him, motivated by greed to seize money after learning that his son had it.

The victim’s father also denied that the killer suffered from any mental illness, confirming that the motive behind the crime was robbery. He added that the matter is now in the hands of the investigation authorities, who will reveal the full truth about his son’s murder.

The detectives at the Giza Security Directorate arrested the accused after the crime and referred him to the prosecution, which ordered his detention pending investigation.
