The remand judge in North Giza decided to renew the detention of the suspect accused of killing his sister’s husband over family disputes in Manshiyet Al-Qanater for 15 days pending investigations.
Major Ahmed Okasha, head of Manshiyet Al-Qanater investigations, received a notification from the hospital about a person admitted with a stab wound who died while being treated. Major General Alaa Fathy, director of the General Investigations Department in Giza, immediately ordered security forces to the scene, where a body with a stab wound to the abdomen was found.
Investigations supervised by Brigadier Ahmed Najm, head of the October Investigations Sector, revealed the victim was a 35-year-old driver whose wife had left the home due to family disputes and went to her family’s house.
After some time, the victim went to reconcile and convince his wife to return home. However, during his presence at his wife’s family home and amid a discussion, a quarrel escalated between him and his wife’s brother, who reproached him for mistreating his sister. The dispute turned into a fight, during which the wife’s brother, a mechanic, took a kitchen knife and attacked the victim, causing fatal injuries. The attacker fled while neighbors took the victim to the hospital, where he died.
Following several checkpoints ordered by Major General Hani Shaarawy, deputy director of the General Investigations Department in Giza, security forces arrested the suspect, who confessed to the crime upon confrontation.
A report was filed, and the prosecution ordered the victim’s body to be examined by forensic medicine to determine the cause of death. The suspect was remanded in custody pending investigations.
