On August 31, 2024, the Jordanian Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, approved several key decisions covering public sector modernization, improvement of citizen services, and enhancement of international cooperation.
Regarding public sector modernization, the Cabinet approved the Information and Document Indexing and Classification System for 2025. This system aims to organize government information and documents in accordance with the Access to Information Law, assigning dedicated staff in each institution to manage indexing professionally.
The Cabinet also approved the rationale for an amended Drivers Licensing System for 2025, unifying the validity period of driving licenses across categories to ten years and requiring public transport and school transport drivers to obtain annual permits to ensure road safety.
To improve services, the Cabinet amended the criteria for electricity connection under the ‘Fils Al-Reef’ program to include installation of solar cell systems connected to the grid for homes of martyrs from the Jordanian Armed Forces and security agencies, reflecting the state’s appreciation for their sacrifices and supporting their families.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved allowing the Al-Twaiseh Charity Association to utilize the government-owned Abu Al-Dhibaab Fifth well in the Deesa area to complete a fish farming project and produce some seasonal crops, providing local youth with job opportunities and supporting community development.
On international cooperation, the Cabinet approved a Memorandum of Understanding to hold political consultations between the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia. It also approved a protocol for exchanging preliminary information on goods and vehicles crossing international borders between the Jordanian Customs Department and the Uzbek Customs Committee.
