Kareem Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with the Cypriot Ambassador to Egypt, Polly Ioannou, to discuss enhancing the strategic partnership with Cyprus amid unlimited support for these strategic relations.

He indicated the ministry’s readiness to provide all necessary support to Cyprus to maximize the benefits from its gas production through the Egyptian infrastructure, which would bring mutual benefits to both countries while overcoming all challenges in this regard, according to today’s statement.

The ambassador said she carries messages from some mining companies operating in Cyprus that wish to make significant investments in this vital sector, especially given the major boom and reforms witnessed in Egypt’s mining investment climate recently.

The minister praised the fruitful cooperation between the two sides in the energy sector, particularly linking Cyprus’s gas fields to Egypt’s liquefied natural gas complexes for re-export to Europe.

The minister expressed his happiness to expand the partnership horizons between Egypt and Cyprus from gas to mining and confirmed his full readiness to coordinate and hold meetings with investors wishing to invest in Egypt’s mining sector at the earliest opportunity to start taking serious steps.
