Manama, September 3 /BNA/ In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, and within the framework of his official visit to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding strategic cooperation between the Bahrain International Exhibition Center and the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences. It was signed on the Bahraini side by His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the Egyptian side by His Excellency Mr. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.
On this occasion, Mrs. Sarah Ahmed Buhajji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain International Exhibition Center, confirmed that signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the center and the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences represents an important milestone in the path of tourism cooperation between the two brotherly countries. It aims to establish Bahrain and Egypt as main hubs for the exhibition and conference industry at both regional and international levels, and to diversify economic and tourism cooperation fields in a way that serves the common interests of the two peoples.
Buhajji explained that the memorandum comes within Bahrain’s keenness to enhance its position as a leading center for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). It complements the memorandum of understanding signed during the presidential visit of Bahrain to Egypt in June 2022, aiming to strengthen cooperation in organizing exhibitions, international markets, and trade weeks, exchanging expertise, information, and training, as well as cooperating in submitting joint bids for major international exhibitions and events, facilitating the holding of joint events, supporting promotional efforts in both countries, and developing and boosting trade relations through organizing exhibitions, international markets, and trade weeks. This contributes to attracting more global events and exhibitions and provides broader opportunities for the private sector to invest in this vital field.
