The Syrian Olympic football team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Philippines in their opening match of the qualifiers for the Asian Cup finals, held in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe.
The goals for Syria were scored by Mahmoud Al-Aswad and Mohammad Al-Mustafa in the 62nd and 80th minutes respectively.
Our team will play its second match next Saturday against Nepal and will conclude its matches next Tuesday against Tajikistan, the host country, within Group 11.
The qualifiers are held in a centralized format from September 1 to 9, with the winners of the eleven groups qualifying for the finals, along with the four best second-placed teams.
