Israeli occupation forces shelled the cities of Khan Younis and Gaza early Friday morning despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that the Israeli army shelled the Katiba area in central Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, with several artillery shells, coinciding with drone flights over the city.

It added that Israeli warplanes launched a heavy airstrike in central Khan Younis at dawn.

East Gaza City also witnessed an Israeli air raid, artillery shelling, and helicopter gunfire.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the government officially approved US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza.

It is noted that US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night the reaching of an agreement to implement the first phase of his Middle East peace plan, which includes ending the war on Gaza, Israeli army withdrawal, entry of humanitarian aid, and prisoner exchange.

Since October 7, 2023, occupation forces have committed genocide crimes in Gaza, resulting in the death of more than 67,000 citizens, injuring about 170,000 others, mostly children and women, and famine that claimed the lives of 460 citizens, including 154 children.
