The announcement of a peace plan in Gaza by U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday did not stop the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the devastated Palestinian enclave.

Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent reported today, Tuesday, that Israeli warplanes launched a series of fire belts over southern Gaza City.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army intensified airstrikes on homes in the southern, central, and northern Gaza Strip.

Israeli artillery renewed shelling on Al-Nasr neighborhood west of Gaza City and on the northern part of Al-Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Tanks Advance North and East of Gaza

In this context, Israeli tanks advanced on the eastern and northern fronts of Gaza City, reaching Al-Jalaa Street in the city center.

They also penetrated Al-Nasr Street near Al-Shifa Hospital, one of the most prominent health facilities in the Strip.

Simultaneously, other Israeli forces moved from the south to reach the universities area, aiming to impose a military cordon around Al-Shifa Hospital.

The Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, Karl Skau, announced that all Gaza residents will be trapped in famine within a few weeks unless food supplies to the Strip are significantly increased.

Skau added in an interview with Canadian CBC channel that only about 100 food trucks enter the besieged Strip daily, saying, “This number is just a drop in the ocean, considering we are talking about 2.2 million people.”

Two weeks ago, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) confirmed that about 1.4 million people face catastrophic levels of food insecurity.

The updated “Global Report on Food Crises” released by the organization last month officially declared famine in Gaza for the first time.

Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have imposed a tight siege on the Strip and closed the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.

Most residents of Gaza City have been forced to move south since early September, despite UN warnings about the lack of safe places.
