Amman, September 1 (Petra) – The Labor and Social Development Committee of the Senate, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, met today Monday in the presence of Dr. Hussein Al-Shibli, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization, to discuss the organization’s role in providing local aid and its relief and humanitarian efforts.

Senator Murad praised the efforts exerted by the “Jordanian Charitable Organization” under high royal directives in supporting the steadfastness of the people of the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the organization translates the Hashemite royal vision by extending a helping hand to every afflicted and needy person inside and outside the Kingdom.

Committee rapporteur Senator Fadel Al-Hamoud said the meeting aimed to learn about the organization’s programs and humanitarian efforts under continuous royal directives, the challenges facing relief work provided to the people of Gaza, and the role of the armed forces in supporting the organization’s efforts to sustain life in the Strip.

Al-Shibli spoke about the establishment of the organization under a pioneering Hashemite royal vision for humanitarian purposes reflecting Jordanian values and ethics within an institutional work framework responsible for charitable and relief work, reviewing the organization’s main programs serving humanity and responding to disasters worldwide.

He explained that the “For Our People in Gaza” campaign, launched under royal directives, targeted about two million people in the Strip. It included 53 flights through Al-Arish Airport, 102 helicopter flights within the air bridge, 164 Jordanian air drops, 400 air drops in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, and 194 land convoys totaling 8,480 trucks, in addition to 119,938 tons of aid sent from Jordan, 1,115,656 food meals, 29,646 bread loaves through the automated bakery, 21,154 meters of water, 579 prosthetic limbs, 36,058 surgeries, 489,801 medical consultations, and 6,000 blood units.

Al-Shibli praised the efforts of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army in supporting the organization’s work to sustain the Jordanian relief corridor despite the challenges facing the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip, noting that the organization provided distance education to the children of the Strip to sustain education.

He added that during its operation, the organization provided a number of internal and external aids, delivering foreign aid to 42 countries serving the principles of humanitarian relief work.

He also touched on the organization’s efforts inside the Kingdom, which include the food security program, relief and shelter projects, health support, training projects for empowerment and sustainable development, cash assistance, and the educational program, noting that these programs targeted Jordanians in the governorates, Arab nationalities, and other refugee nationalities residing in the Kingdom.

The committee recommended the importance of highlighting the organization’s role locally and globally and enhancing the media discourse to support and appreciate its humanitarian role internationally, reflecting the Kingdom’s honorable image and supporting the Jordanian narrative against campaigns of doubt to sustain relief efforts and strengthen partnerships with brotherly and friendly countries in delivering relief support to Gaza.
