Journalist Emad El-Din Hussein confirmed that the summit between the Egyptian president and his Emirati counterpart came at a very critical time, considering “timing as the hero of today’s scene,” as the visit follows just days after US President Donald Trump presented his initiative regarding Gaza.

In his analysis during a phone interview with journalist Azza Mustafa on her program “Al-Sa’a 6” aired on Al-Hayat channel, Hussein explained that the meeting was primarily dedicated to discussing the details of the American plan, its repercussions, potential outcomes, and how to deal with it. He said: “My meeting today was largely focused on examining this plan in detail, its repercussions, and whether there are obstacles that can be overcome or formulations that can be modified.”

Hussein described the proposed plan, which consists of 21 points, as containing “many positives and many negatives,” stressing the need to view it objectively. He added: “Viewing it as an absolute good is incorrect, and viewing it as an absolute evil is also incorrect.”

He pointed out that there is a preliminary consensus between Egypt and the UAE on dealing with this initiative, which he described as “a very important development.” He confirmed that the core Arab goal of any move is to achieve several non-negotiable constants, which are: “an immediate stop to Israeli aggression.. stopping massacres and preventing the forced displacement plan of Palestinians.. ensuring the Palestinian people remain in their land in the Gaza Strip.. obtaining a commitment not to annex the West Bank.”

Hussein concluded his analysis by saying that the Arab consensus, led by Egypt and the UAE, focuses on how to build on the positive aspects of the plan and exploit them to achieve these fundamental goals and protect Palestinian rights.
